Terminology Watch: Log or Sign In?

Tanin Ehrami took the time to collate what terms are used to create and destroy a session on some of the top websites.

The short version: "Sign In" and "Sign Out", capitalized, lead the pack. But the URLs that drive these operations contain, with only one exception, the string "login". Consider it an interesting case of developer and user language in divergence -- my guess is that in another 10 years those paths will be "signin".
